Coongie Lakes

Coongie Lakes is a remarkable freshwater wetland system in the remote Far North region of South Australia. Spanning approximately 21,790 km²—about 1,046 km north of Adelaide—it forms a mosaic of lakes, channels, floodplains, deltas, and interdune swamps within the Cooper Creek floodplain. Recognised internationally, it’s listed as a Ramsar Wetland of International Importance and forms part of the Malkumba‑Coongie Lakes National Park
